Fans are weighing in on the first appearance of rap star Cardi B on “America’s Got Talent,” and who they think she should be compared to.
The “Bodak Yellow” singer made her first television appearance for the talent contest on Tuesday. She was the youngest contestant to take the stage and clearly upset about the situation.
“How the f— I’m here now? I didn’t want to leave my child. She’s here but I’m not,” said the 25-year-old.
After showing off her skills in front of the crowd with “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi got a lot of positive feedback from the judges, Simon Cowell being the harshest.
The rapper, who earned the chance to perform on the NBC reality show, gained popularity with her big song “Bodak Yellow” that reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and recently won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance.
On her appearance, viewers weighed in on who they felt the Bronx native was best compared to.
“Bodak Yellow is a generic form of ‘Sweet By and By’ It is just rhymes,” Tweeted Nick Bashara.
The winner of Season 12, Bianca “BiuSiya” Ramos said of Cardi: “She’s already so successful, why would she want to come here? Cardi B: I Wanna be in the f—ing pole.”
“Cardi B got her swag on full blast,” wrote Kaya Young.
